A generator produces a reaction that causes the salt to turn to chlorine and a hydrogen gas. When this mixture is released into your swimming pool, it is supposed to kill any bacteria, algae, or viruses that may be in your water. However, it is not your best or most natural solution. If you want to be “green” in your efforts to keep your pool water clean and clear, try a more natural alternative, such as an ionic water purifier combined with a flow of natural oxygen. The environment will thank you for this choice.
Two problems with chlorine are the production of chloramines and problems with the pH adjustment of the water. When chlorine mixes with macrobiotic material, it triggers a reaction that forms “chloramines.” Chloramines can sting your eyes, cause redness, and produce an unnatural swimming pool smell. Chloramines are also known to be cancer-causing agents. Keep in mind that chlorine only works correctly when the pH balance of the water is at a certain level. With a chlorinator, levels are going to fluctuate, leaving you uncertain as to how protected you are.
Chemicals from a salt water chlorinator can irritate your eyes, sinuses, nose, and other sensitive body parts. You can get crystal clear, clean, sparkling water for your swimming pool from other, more natural methods of cleaning you won t have to worry about all the problems that arise from using a salt water chlorinator.
Chemicals from a chlorinator can fade your swimwear, dry your skin, and even turn your hair a different color! Why choose a salt water chlorinator that uses harsh chemicals to treat your swimming pool when there are healthier and more natural options available?
You have alternatives to a salt water chlorinator. You can opt to go with a low-chlorine or no-chlorine choice. A non-chemical approach to cleaning your pool can result in less pool maintenance, as alternatives such as ionizers can keep your pool clean for a longer period of time.
With a pool ionizer and natural oxygen, you can eliminate usage of chemicals required by a salt water chlorinator. Pool ionizers are more effective when they work with oxygen. An ionizer by itself will not rid your pool water of excess body oils, suntan lotions, etc. When you combine them, it is an unbeatable match. There is such a system available for just pennies a day.
Some ionizers help clean your pool using natural minerals of the earth, such as copper. Copper ions are released into your swimming pool water by an ionizer to naturally clean the water, which is much more environmentally friendly than a salt water chlorinator.
