Trends in Window Treatments

Window treatments are leaning more toward simple straight lines. But many of these treatments are being made with luxury fabrics such as velvet, damask and even fur and leather. But silk panels will be the “big thing”. And nothing is more luxurious than an interlined silk panel!

Large prints and texture are also very popular. Large prints such as Jacobean are perfect for more traditional homes while people with more modern tastes will find lots of geometrics to choose from.

There are so many “Green Design” options out there for people looking for both economical and environmentally safe treatments. Cellular shades and Window Quilts are both great choices for keeping the cold and wind out. Solar shades are perfect for reducing heat and glare from the sun. Organic materials such as wood and bamboo will gain in popularity. Allergy sufferers will be glad to find many affordable options. You can choose fabrics that are anti-microbial, anti-fungal and made with non-toxic dyes. There are even fabrics that help eliminate odors!

Motorization will gain popularity. You can control your shades and blinds using remote control or even a light switch! A great thing for high, hard to reach windows!

Another new look that will be replacing verticals is panel-track systems which offer a sleeker, cleaner look. They can be made of fabric or wood and can also be used as room dividers.
