Something sturdy and durable, making it a great hand-me-down piece when you are ready to buy something new. In order to do this there are a couple of things you should think about before making the leap.

First and foremost, you want to be sure your new sofa complements your current decor. This mainly depends on how particular you are about how well your pieces must match. If you are more particular, this could mean matching up the wood furnishings, colors, textures, and style. A more casual buyer may just look for a something that matches the theme and color scheme of their living room area. Next, you should consider what size you are going to need to properly fill up the open space. Something to bulky could throw off the look of the rest of your living room, while something to small could possibly look as if it doesn t belong at all. Take some time to take measurements of the space you want fill, this information can help you determine which size will be the best match.

The next idea you should think about is the comfort level. No matter how comfortable a couch may look, it still may not be a perfect match for you. Take a chance to visit a few furniture stores and see which ones are best for you. Different depths and angles can make for a big difference in two couches that may virtually look the same. If you have kids or pets you may need to worry about what type of material your couch will be made of. Also you may want to avoid light colors as well as solids. A couch with even a few patterns can hide stains better than a couch that is a solid color.

If buying online, write down the color on a sheet of paper and take it to your nearest home improvement store for a sample. Your couch is very much a reflection of the way you live life.
