If such data on a home water filter system is very difficult to find, or if the manufacturer doesn t seem eager to share the information with you, beware. There may be something they don t want you to know. Trust only those companies that can show documentation that their products truly remove contaminants from your water.
When researching home water filters, you should know that removing everything from water is not necessarily the best thing. Distilled water, for example, that has no mineral content at all, is believed to cause mineral deficiencies and other health problems in those who drink it long-term. Minerals are naturally present in water, and to remove them from water may keep your body from getting what it needs.
Another thing to consider as you look into buying a home water filter is which outlets in your home you want to cover. Water used for drinking is usually found in the kitchen, either at the sink or through a water station in the refrigerator. But water in the bathroom is often consumed while brushing teeth or taking vitamins or medication. And research has shown that the body absorbs both water and its contaminants during a typical shower. In fact, it is said that the body can absorb more unhealthy chemicals from water through the skin than through consumption by drinking. Because of this, you might consider installing water filters on all faucets and showerheads in your home.
You may consider installing a home water filter system for your entire home, filtering the water at the point of entry. But because some of the contaminants in your water, specifically lead and vinyl chloride, can come from the pipes, it s more effective to filter the water at each location where it leaves the plumbing system and enters your body, like on faucets and showerheads.
The importance of using a home water filters can not be overstated. There is no other way to be certain that unwanted chemicals are removed, making the water you use to drink, shower and bathe more safe for you and your family.
