Hall Tree Bench - A Way to Organize Your Life

We all rush to the door first thing in the morning while looking for our keys, wallet, purse… and don t forget about the kids! It can be exhausting getting ready to go, which is why a handsome hall tree bench might be your unexpected time saver. Having one area to come home to, where you can organize your personal effects can eliminate stress from your day and make it much easier to get going in the morning. Built-in benches and coat racks were popular during the boom of Prairie style homes giving the occupant a designated place to hang coats and remove outer clothing before proceeding into the house. Guests also appreciated this space because it was possible for personal items to be left at the front door rather than being transported to the guest bedroom or designated sleep area. While a built-in bench may seem a luxury to most homeowners, the same convenience can be found in a highly crafted hall tree bench that is movable.

In most modern versions of the quality hall tree bench, the tall sides are equipped with coat hooks and there is usually a storage compartment under the bench making a wonderful entryway organizer and a perfect solution for the busy family. Muddy shoes and wet clothes are conveniently stored so that they may be gathered for quick clean up in preparation for the next day. More modern versions also feature a shelf for smaller items and may even include a mirror for those last minute touch-ups.

Available in a variety of woods such as cherry, oak and walnut, a quality bench should be built to withstand generations of use. Although some benches are constructed with pine, this is still a sturdy wood that will stand the test of time so long as it is properly cared for. It is important to apply a wood oil to the exterior every other year to prevent cracking and premature damage to the bench.

Whatever wood you decide to choose for your piece, do not limit yourself to only placing a handy tree bench in a hallway or entry. Bedrooms can often benefit from additional storage and a stately bench that matches existing furniture can prove very useful while still adding a decorative flare to the space. Limitless designs have translated this classic piece into several styles, which can easily be found online in a greater range of styles and at lower prices than can generally be found in more traditional furniture store outlets.
