Breathing new life and personality into your bathroom can be done in a snap! You don t have to spend a lot of time or money to redecorate the smallest room in your house. Just follow these simple tips and before you know it, you ll be able to transform your bathroom into a lively, welcoming room.
Choosing Themes & Color Schemes
Themed bathrooms (such as dolphins, suns & moons, and lighthouses) have become very popular in recent years. Using a theme can spark new life in your bathroom and add a touch of your own personality and style. Choose a theme that appeals to you and run with it. Many department and home decor outlets now carry an amazing array of various themes for you to choose from. You can purchase themed products like toothbrush holders, shower curtains, waste basket, and printed towels.
Once you ve chosen the theme of your bathroom, you ll need to choose a color scheme that best suits your chosen theme. If you re repainting the walls, use warm, soft colors accenting your theme. By using warm colors, you re also counteracting the coldness of flooring and tile. You can even add a themed border around the top or middle of your walls for added flare by using a stencil to paint themed images or border wall paper.
Decorating Touches
- Using colorful rugs and towels that match your chosen theme will help to brighten your bathroom.
- Using brightly colored boxes or earth-toned baskets filled with items such as washcloths and soaps is a great way to organize your bathroom with style as you re redecorating.
- If your bathroom has shelving system, arrange your towels so that they are displayed neatly and add more color to the room. Be sure all of your towels are either rolled or folded the same way!
A Few Final Tips
- If your bathroom is small, keep things simple. You can utilize more mirrors in a smaller bathroom to make it appear larger.
- Remember, don t overdo your theme! You don t want your bathroom to look overly busy.
- Use various textures in your bathroom for added warmth and to offset the shininess of tile and bathroom fixtures.
- Avoid using drab or dull colors. Use bright or pastel colors to give your bathroom more warmth and appeal.
By following these simple tips, you ll be well on your way to redecorating your bathroom in a refreshing, new way without hassles or headaches!
